Charles Bershatsky, Ph.D. has been a psychotherapist working with numerous financiers and NYC executives for almost three decades. He is certified as a psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, addictions counselor and is a Board Certified LCSW Diplomate.
Erudite and personable, Charles’ incisive and witty style is always a big hit. He works in a distinct manner in his one-on-one coaching – with surgical precision and humor for anesthesia. It is Charles’s uncanny ability to connect with clients and get through their most stubborn resistances, which make his abilities so uniquely invaluable to The ReThink Group and its clients.
Since 1999, he has been a professor at the East European Psychoanalytic Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he is well-known for his lectures and seminars. Dr. Bershatsky along with his wife, Deborah Greene Bershatsky, Ph.D.–who together developed the Bershatsky Method–are credited, among others, with having revived and significantly furthered the development of the psychoanalytic movement in Russia.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Theatre from Long Island University in 1969. After a career in acting and the theatre, Dr. Bershatsky received his Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University in 1983. While working for his MSW, he began studies at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis, where he received his certification as a psychoanalyst in 1983. He earned one of the first accredited doctorates in psychoanalysis when he was awarded his PhD from the Union Institute in 1988.
